Council Elections – Call for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the upcoming Council election, which will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019. The three-year term of the newly elected Council members will begin on January 17, 2020, at the first scheduled Council meeting following the election.

Elections will be held for the following districts:

District 1 – Greater Toronto Area District, which is composed of the municipality of Metropolitan Toronto and the regional municipalities of Halton, City of Hamilton-Wentworth, Niagara, Peel and York.

District 2 – Northern Electoral District, which is composed of the territorial districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Rainy River, City of Greater Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timiskaming, the counties of Bruce, Dufferin, Grey, Haliburton, Huron; Renfrew and Simcoe and the district municipality of Muskoka.

District 3 – Eastern Electoral District, which is composed of the counties of Frontenac, Hastings, Lanark, Northumberland, Peterborough, Prince Edward, Kawartha Lakes, Leeds & Grenville, Lennox and Addington, Prescott and Russell United Counties, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and the Durham Region and the City of Ottawa.

District 5 – Provincial Electoral District, which is composed of the whole of the Province of Ontario.

Nominations are open to all members. The College encourages and welcomes those within their first 10 years of practice and/or with experience in governance, human resources, finance/business or communication to consider this opportunity. It’s your chance to protect the public of Ontario and contribute to the profession of optometry.
