Designated Drugs Regulation in Effect April 7, 2011
We have now been informed by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care that the regulation that designates the drugs that optometrists are authorized to prescribe has been approved by an Order in Council of the Government of Ontario and will be in effect tomorrow. Ontarians will now enjoy better access to eye health care now that optometrists can prescribe medications for sight-threatening conditions like eye infections and glaucoma.
